Our Mission
Working in partnership, Oakley College and Canarias Basketball Academy (CBA) aim to achieve academic and athletic success by developing critical thinking skills, promoting individual responsibility, integrity and, finally, to nurture the high sense of achievement providing each individual with a clear pathway to higher education as a student-athlete.
Our Philosophy
The Oakley College and CBA partnership is a formidable and unique initiative which is fast becoming known as the top academy in Europe dedicated to the development of student athletes. The Oakley College and CBA partnership is designed to guide the development of the total student-athlete. It provides a rigorous and challenging combination of athletic and academic life controlled by a dedicated faculty and staff, who together, are the foundations of a supportive network in which students can grow into independent learners. We integrate an international student body, teaching tolerance and empathy which we believe will aid us in moulding leaders for the education and career path that these individuals wish to take. We maintain a balance between academics and athletics which promotes and guides all individuals to challenge, increase and become self aware of important life factors such as time management, endurance and self-confidence. Together, we instill the commitment to achievement in all environments that promote the character that will drive each student-athlete to reach their potential.
The Oakley College and CBA partnership faculty and staff are committed to the responsibility of mentoring all student-athletes through an extremely challenging stage of their individual development. We exist to educate all student-athletes and develop a rapport to assist and guide them towards balancing academics and athletics. The workload that student-athletes sustain throughout this period is extremely intensive and challenging. Therefore, we provide a positive, stimulating, motivating and safe environment in which all students can learn about their own character as well as furthering their independance and ability to learn for themselves.
The faculty and staff integrate a number of teaching and coaching styles which will not only maintain students' interest, but provide multiple methods of information delivery to individualise the learning process, and contextualizes the knowledge for practical application. Our methods provide the individual with the skills required to succeed in higher education in college and later life.
The faculty and staff of Oakley College and CBA partnership always works closely in conjunction with parents, directors, administrators, athletic and performance coaches, head of residency and academic advisors to provide a continual rich and challenging environment conducive to learning, playing. Our focus is to promote and provide first hand experience in living the life of 'the total student-athlete.' Therefore, every aspect of the CBA and Oakley College partnership continually interacts with all departments to provide a rich and successful teaching environment which will always have the best interests of the student-athlete at the forefront of their development.
