On June 14th all the Oakley students and staff came together in the Ciudad Deportiva sports grounds to raise awareness and funds for the charity Action against Hunger. From the very small to the very big, all joined together to dance, run, jump, skip and hoola hoop their way during a morning of high energy and activity aimed at helping those less fortunate than ourselves.
Many congratulations goes to all who participated.

At the beginning of June, Year 3 spent 2 days at the Chira campsite. Children enjoyed a variety of activities, such as hiking, climbing, rappel, archery, abseiling, orienteering games, gymkhana, workshops and evening group games at the dining room.  They really enjoyed the experience as you can see from the photos.

A couple of weeks ago, coinciding with the celebrations of "Dia de Canarias", Nazaria , our librarian, carried on several activities with the children. Year 2 read the book “ El burro flautista”, and sang the rap of the “Flautist donkey”, finally they made a picture of the story to decorate the library.
Year 3 read the book “Fábula de los dos Conejos”, “Fable of the two rabbits”, and then they improvised their own story with current expressions from Canary Islands.
Year 4 read the book “Leyenda del Drago”, “Legend of the Drago tree”, after that, children pretended they were princes and princesses and then they made  pictures of the story which have been decorating the library area.

This year our course theme is "Wonders of the World", focusing on the 4 countries of USA, India, China and Australia.
Students will experience the many elements of the 4 different cultures, from the geography, customs, art, cooking traditional dishes and also studying dances and sports, all in English, of course!  
This year again we have the mental arithmetic classes of UCMAS twice a week for all students aged 5yrs and above.
Excursions take the form of surf classes and beach fun which are planned for each Friday with the over 6s doing the surf classes whilst the younger children enjoy beach games based on teamwork.

Early Years children celebrated their "Dia de Canarias" at the Zuloaga building this year. It was a great day, enjoyed by all children, teachers and family.  Well done everyone for this wonderful assembly! and thank you the "Efecto Pasillo Early-band"!
