This month it will be full steam ahead with opportunities for the children and yourselves to be involved in everyday life at Oakley.
Year 1 will be visiting the South of the island with a trip to Palmitos Park to study animals in a natural environment. I can’t wait to hear about their trip as I know they will have a fantastic time. I am very jealous – maybe they will find a spare seat for me!!!
The trip will take place during the second or third week of February and we will let you know as soon as possible once everything is confirmed. Children will be taking a packed lunch for their trip and having a picnic at the park – how exciting. Please make sure that they have suitable clothing and footwear for the trip.
In last month’s note I asked you to look out for YEAR 2’s trip to Cueva Pintada but unfortunately we have had to postpone the visit until March as there were no guides available on the dates and times we had planned and we want the children to benefit from the knowledge of the experts!
Our class assemblies for this term are about to start. We begin with MISS CAROLYN and IC on Wednesday 15th February. Please come and join us as we love to see so many of you in school supporting your children. IJ, 2N and 2A will follow in March as CARNAVAL fever takes over during the week of 13th February.
With this year’s carnival theme of Comic Book Characters, the children’s class activities for the week will be linked to the theme and I know they will have great fun – as always.
The annual CARNAVAL parade will take place on Friday 17th at 9.00, so children are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite character – you may spot a couple of ‘superhero’ teacher’s around too, if you look carefully!
Please remember that if there is anything staff can do to help, we are always here, however simple your question is.
Year 6 have been studying some African folklore tales in English. They chose their favourite story and retold it to their friends in Year 2. The Year 2 children loved hearing about Anansi the Spider and his adventures. We hope to have the opportunity to do it again soon.
