Well, we have survived the first month back and are all settled back into the normal routines.  February is going to be a quiet month for us all, except for Year 6C and Year 5A who will be showing off their singing and acting skills in their class assemblies.

This term we have started doing things a little bit differently in English lessons.  Every three weeks your child will be doing a special piece of writing to enable us to really work on improving our writing skills. Before the writing session, we will be encouraging children to go home and talk to you about a given subject.  Last month each year group wrote instructions on how to make a sandwich for a witch.  Maybe your child told you all about this at home. By talking first about what would make a disgusting sandwich, this gave them vocabulary and ideas ready to put into their work, as well as the enthusiasm to be creative.  So, if your child comes home and wants to talk to you about a certain subject, please engage with them in this.  It doesn´t really matter if you are more comfortable talking in Spanish.  It is the ideas we are looking for.  We can help with the vocabulary here at school.

Each individual is also working hard to secure house points for their school team.  Children can gain house points from their teachers through fantastic work and brilliant behaviour.  Last term, Wales had more house points than England, Scotland and Ireland so celebrated with a fantastic afternoon over at the sports´ ground.  This term, so far, Wales have the most house points again, so COME ON the other teams!!!
