Secondary
The Secondary Department is divided into three stages:
- Key Stage 3 Ages 11-14 Years 7-9
- Key Stage 4 Ages 14-16 Years 10 and 11
- Sixth Form Ages 16-18 Years 12 and 13
Throughout the Secondary Dept. our aim is to encourage students to think for themselves - to develop an approach to their work which will give them the confidence to tackle any task. The importance of independent learning and self-motivated study is reinforced in the wide variety of teaching methods used in the school - research projects, oral presentations, discussions and debates. Students are encouraged to ask questions and are supported and guided in facing new challenges and taking increasing amounts of responsibility for their own study. Our aim is to equip them with the tools and skills for lifelong learning.
The Library and Computer room
These have been developed to provide a focus for both specific enquiry and sustained work. There is access at lunch times to the facilities and pupils may also go to homework club. At all stages emphasis is placed on the development of ICT skills and the school has up to date computers with internet connection.
