KS3

About Key Stage 3

The KS3 curriculum has been developed to be both broad and balanced, ensuring that all students have a thorough grounding in all subjects, providing an unshakeable foundation from which students can go onto explore in any direction they choose. Languages, Literature and the Humanities are taught alongside Science, Mathematics, ICT and the Expressive Arts.

Curriculum

The curriculum builds on and extends the Primary curriculum, introducing a third language (German or French) and Spanish Social Studies, which is taught in Spanish. In music the students all learn to play the keyboard. All subject teachers aim to combine a rigorous approach with enjoyable and stimulating material - both to challenge and to catch the imagination.

Pastoral Care

Personal and Social Education is considered a key part of the curriculum, and this along with Citizenship is covered twice per week by the form tutors. Each tutor is responsible for the individual care of his or her form. The tutor and tutor group meet daily at registration and this allows the tutor to keep a constant eye on the progress of the students in the tutor group. Parents are encouraged to contact the form tutor with any concerns.

hello february from Miss sam

The Spring term is well underway and off to a positive start. We are pleased to see evidence of continued progress and responsibility being demonstrated by pupils in Key Stage 3.

With the view of continued progress in mind, here are a few tips and reminders to help you maintain positive work habits:

•    Get plenty of sleep, eat healthily and exercise regularly. This will help you to concentrate on your daily tasks and pay attention in class.

•    Bring the correct equipment to school, and make sure that you have the necessary basic supplies which will enable you to carry out your tasks effectively.

•    Use your homework diaries to manage your tasks. Be responsible about taking note of homework deadlines and special dates or information. Remember to ask your parents to sign your diary on a weekly basis.

•    Time + Effort = Achievement
Take the time to carefully complete all assignments at school and home; ask questions when you do not understand a task; demonstrate perseverance  (that means keep trying – even when the work is difficult), and eliminate the word “can’t” from your vocabulary.

•    Take note of your teachers’ advice and tips on how you can continue to improve on your performance; and be sure to put them into practice!

•    Remember to treat others in school (your peers and adults) in the same way you would like to be treated.

Let’s continue to work together to make this a productive, enjoyable and successful term!
