Key Stage 3

Quote of the day
KS3
|
The KS3 curriculum has been developed to be both broad and balanced, ensuring that all students have a thorough grounding in all subjects, providing an unshakeable foundation from which students can go onto explore in any direction they choose. Languages, Literature and the Humanities are taught alongside Science, Mathematics, ICT and the Expressive Arts.
The curriculum builds on and extends the Primary curriculum, introducing a third language (German or French) and Spanish Social Studies, which is taught in Spanish. In music the students all learn to play the keyboard. All subject teachers aim to combine a rigorous approach with enjoyable and stimulating material - both to challenge and to catch the imagination.

Hello from Miss Francine
Thursday, 01 September 2011 21:52
The Spring term is well underway and off to a positive start, giving staff and pupils alike some valuable time to reflect on how we can continue improving the Oakley learning experience before the Summer Exam period! We are pleased to see evidence of continued progress and responsibility at personal learning being demonstrated by pupils in the Key Stage. This can be seen through pupils’ involvement in the very successful “Study Buddy” system that runs every Tuesday afternoon. It gives pupils the opportunity to work through areas of difficulty regarding homework and class work tasks with the support of a tutor, as well as with student mentors from Key Stages 4 and 5; and with members of their peer group. The Study Buddy Group continues to grow in popularity, and contributes to the supportive learning environment at Oakley. With the view of continued progress in mind, here are a few tips and reminders to help pupils maintain positive work habits:
Take the time to carefully complete all assignments at school and home; ask questions when you do not understand a task; demonstrate perseverance (that means keep trying – even when the work is difficult), and eliminate the word “can’t” from your vocabulary. Make it a goal to do your personal best at school every day.
Let’s continue to work together to make this a productive, enjoyable and successful term!
