In the Sixth Form students select 3-4 subjects from a wide range of courses for more advanced study and follow AS level courses and exams in Year 12 and A level courses and exams in Year 13. With these qualifications students are prepared to enter a university in the Canaries, Spain, Europe or the rest of the world.

YEAR 12 and 13 trip TO THE THEATRE

 On February 1st, Year 12 and 13 students went to the theatre to see the play “La vida es sueño” by Pedro Calderón de la Barca. The play was held at the University Auditorium. This play is a masterpiece of the Spanish classical theatre of the 17th century and will be part of their As-level/A level exams in June. The visit was organised by the Secondary Spanish department and the students were accompanied by Miss Chani.

GRAN CANARIA MARATHON 2013

maratónA number of students and staff are taking part in the Gran Canaria Marathon on Sunday 20th January 2103.
Our teachers; Miss Morwenna, Miss Kim, Mr. Tobi, Mr. Toni, Mr. Donat  and some of our students;  Carlos Rodriguez, Santiago García, Néstor Rivero, Joel Quevedo and Aldo Moreno will be representing Oakley College in this popular annual event. Race starts at 9am and all support welcome.

UNIVERSITY VISIT TO OAKLEY

MBALast Friday 30th November MBA Business School, the first International Business School in the Canary Islands, visited Oakley. The MBA representative informed our Year 12 and 13 students about their different grades, scholarships, work experience, resources and basically the training skills they provide.

j4On Tuesday, the 6th of November, we Sixth Form students, went on a trip to Club El Monte, with the goal of developing our teamwork skills.

The instructors helped us choose groups breaking up the trends that tend to appear when students are allowed to choose who they work with: girls with girls and boys with boys, working with those you normally work with and simply choosing the person standing next to you in order to move as little as possible (something we Sixth formers are experts at).

VISIT TO THE “ÉRASE UNA VEZ… ¡EL HABLA!” EXHIBITION

C10Students from Y11 and 12 had the opportunity to visit the exhibition “Erase una vez …¡El Habla! on November 13th. organised  by the Obra social La Caixa. The exhibition will be until November 18th at Parque San Telmo, in Las Palmas. Our students were accompanied on the trip by Mr. Tobias and Miss Chani. The exhibition is focused on Human Communication, its features, signs and signals. Students also learnt about the first signs of communication between humans and how spoken language has developed  throughout history up to the present day.
