Oakley College is an independent Nursery, Primary and Secondary school, established in 1989, aiming to provide quality education through the medium of English, for an international community.  We cater for students from 2 years of age up to 18.

At Oakley College we believe that a caring and stimulating environment is essential to the development of children. We aim to develop self-esteem, personal responsibility and a commitment to learning in all. Oakley College is a happy school, dedicated to the promotion of a well-balanced curriculum and the highest quality of educational experiences.

Our philosophy is one of partnership between staff, parents and children in a friendly, family atmosphere, ensuring that each child will learn to the best of his or her ability. We encourage parents to work with us so that together we may promote the growth of respect for one another and care for the physical environment as well as attaining high academic standards.

We have a great team of professionals working in the school and if you are interested in joining us please E-mail;

1. a letter of application, and
2. your CV and photo.

Remember in your letter to include information about your professional experience and strengths, what buzzes you about learning and teaching, and why you are looking to teach at Oakley.

Have a close look at the values, culture and attitudes we promote at Oakley because these are the things that are our guiding reference throughout the school.

The children mainly have English as an additional language being native Spanish children.
All teaching is done in English and although no Spanish is required for the post, a willingness to learn Spanish is important for integration into the local community.

The successful candidates will:

• join us in our quest to be "a confident learning community"
• value Respect, Responsibility and Resolving problems
• join a culture of honesty, recognising others, working together, enterprise, and improvement.
. share in a positive attitude.

We put the children’s learning first and we all work very hard to make a difference to those children who are at our school!

To help you get an independent view of the school please read the last inspection report which is on the website (follow the link on the main page to: about us/inspections).

. Oakley is a friendly and happy place to work. Staff enjoy the support of committed professionals.

• The school and parents have high standards for all children and view education in its broadest sense. The staff aim to develop highly motivated children, with self-esteem, who love learning and coming to school. We see education as a priority and we work very hard to develop good relationships between home and school.

. Classes are smaller than in a lot of state schools with the maximum numbers in any class being 25.

. There is time to develop relationships with the children. The academic pace of the school is brisk, but we have a less restrained curriculum than in the maintained sector as we "broadly follow the National Curriculum".

. Staff at Oakley work hard but they enjoy slightly longer holidays than in many UK schools, teaching 180 days with 5 training days.

. We believe in the importance of a balance between work and play. We also provide exercise classes (pilates) twice a week to help unwind from the stresses and strains of teaching. A three course lunch, provided by our highly qualified chefs, is also provided free to all staff (vegetarian menu also available).

. Teacher's children receive free education at Oakley (as long as there is an unocupied place in the year group).

• Some knowledge of and a willingness to learn Spanish would also be advantageous. However Spanish classes are provided free for staff.

• Most, if not all, of the children will be learning English as an additional language; therefore some experience of teaching EAL learners would also be advantageous.

.
